TFT Introduces our WEL Current Sense Resistor 2-Terminal
Thin Film Technology Corp. is proud to introduce our new WEL Series Current Sense Resistors two terminal. Covering sizes 0603, 0805, 1206, 2010, 2512, 4320, 4527, 0508, 1612, 0815, 1020, 1225, 0830, 1530, 1836, and 2043 English sizes. These new WEL Series are designed for tight tolerance, low noise, long-term stability and high heat dissipation capability in a small package. They are useful in power management modules, motor control circuits, and many other current sensing applications. Current sense resistors are typically used to monitor the current in a circuit and translate the amount of current in that circuit into an easily measured and monitored voltage.

TFT Introduces CST High Voltage Flexible Termination Series

TFT Introduces UCR Series
Thin Film Technology Corp. is pleased to announce the release of our new UCR Series (Ultra Tight Tolerance) chip resistors. These ultra-precision chip resistors provide absolute resistance tolerance of 0.01% and TCR of 2ppm. Additionally, they perform far better than other thin-film chip resistors with extremely high reliability and stability (3000Hrs Load life testing at 70C at rated power). They are perfect for demanding applications where high reliability and environmental stability is a must, such as automotive or test and measure applications. TFT Introduces PAT-P Power Attenuator Series
Thin Film Technology Corp is pleased to announce the new power attenuator series PAT-P. A Beam lead chip in 3042 and 3060 size attenuators mounted on a nickel plated flange. This power attenuator series is capable of withstanding 1 Watt in the 3042 and 1.5 Watts in the 3060 and up to 5 Watts and 10 Watts respectively when mounted on a heat sink. The PAT-P delivers excellent VSWR performance up to 10GHz and attenuation values from 0 to -20dB. Competitively priced and suitable for high volume applications. TFT Introduces FR2 Voltage Divider Network
Thin Film Technology has introduced our FR2 Series resistor networks which are intended for use in voltage division applications for SSD memory devices. Resistor networks are used as voltage dividers and as terminators on certain ports to compensate for trace impedance mismatches to the characteristic cable impedance. Each operating mode of the SSD card (Active, Idle and Stand-by) requires different voltage levels, thus the need for voltage dividers. Because the power consumption is low, the voltage must be controlled accurately. With the resistor ratio performance of these resistor networks, greater accuracy can be obtained which will will reduce the CMRR. One of the main obstacles to overcome when designing this network was the overall package size since most applications which currently use discrete resistors for this voltage division incorporate two 0402 English size resistors. It was imperative that our network take up less space than the courtyard of two individual 0402 size discrete resistors, which the FR2 Series networks do. TFT Introduces 30GHz Attenuators
Thin Film Technology (TFT) is currently in development of an 0805 sized High Frequency Attenuator. The ATT Series attenuators will feature a Ground-Signal-Ground (GSG) configuration with Land Gird Array (LGA) construction, allowing for excellent frequency performance to 30GHz. Standard attenuation offerings of 0 to 10dB with 1dB steps will cover most needs. Contact the factory for samples.

Thin Film Technology attended OFC (Optical Fiber Conference) in Anaheim on March 18-22 and we also attended the CARTS symposium (Capacitor and Resistor Technology Symposium) in Houston on March 25-28. Both shows were very well attended and we had the opportunity to meet with many industry colleagues to discuss industry trends, industry needs and new technologies.

TFT Introduces High Frequency Power Attenuators
Thin Film Technology has introduced a line of High Frequency Power Attenuators. The AFN Series offers attenuations of 5dB, 10dB and 20dB. The products are produced on alumina nitride ceramic and the finely balanced design allows for frequency performance of 13.5GHz with input powers of 2 watts in a 1220 English Size surface mount package. TFT Introduces LPF for 100 Gbps Optical Receiver Modules
TFT announces the introduction of 5th order Absorptive Low Pass Bessel Filter series for 100 Gbps optical communication systems receiver modules. The -3dB cutoff frequency of this filter series ranges from 18 GHz to 24 Ghz with 2 GHz steps. The mechanical size is 0.08 x 0.05 inches (0805). These filters provide excellent electrical performance with the -3 dB Cutoff frequency tolerance of +/- 5 %, Return Loss is lower than -10 dB up to 1.5 times the cutoff frequency, and Group Delay performance of less than 5 ps up to the cutoff frequency. Typical applications of these Low Pass Filters are to remove the high frequency noise components from the received signal. 100 Gbps optical communication systems overall performance can be improved by taking advantage of these Filters excellent return loss characteristics. TFT Announces Small Size Absorptive Bessel Filters
TFT announces the introduction of Land Grid Array (LGA) series absorptive Bessel filters. The -3dB cutoff frequency of this filter series is from 7 GHz to 12 Ghz with 1 GHz steps. The size of the product is 0.12 x 0.09 inches (1209) and they feature a Ground/Signal/Ground land pattern for excellent impedance matching. These filters provide outstanding electrical performance. Group Delay performance of the filters is less than 8 ps up to the cutoff frequency, while the return loss is lower than -10 dB up to 2.5 times the cutoff frequency. Cutoff frequency tolerance is +/- 2.5%. A typical application of filters would be use for 100 Gbps, Optical, Duobinary modulation schemes. These filters can also be used to improve the system performance on the receiver side of 100 Gbps optical communications. Please contact the factory with any inquiries.

TFT Announces Miniature BGA Resistor Networks
Thin Film Technology announces the introduction of miniature BGA style resistor networks. These networks are currently offered with five independent resistors in a 3.2 x 1.2mm (0.125 x 0.05 inch) size package. Additional sizes will soon be offered. Tight tolerances including TCR's and TCR tracking make these ideal networks where tight matching is required. The BGA design allows for very low parasitic capacitance and inductance leading to improved frequency performance and reduced ground bounce. Please contact the factory with any inquiries.

TFT introduces Temperature Variable Attenuators
Thin Film Technology has introduced several series of Temperature Variable Attenuators. These temperature variable attenuators are useful in negating temperature effects on amplifier circuits. In high frequency applications, amplifiers have a tendency to decrease their gain as the temperature rises. The temperature variable attenuator provides the opposite temperature characteristics than the amplifier as its attenuation decreases as the temperature rises. Using the temperature variable attenuator in series with the amplifier circuit will cancel out the temperature effects and result in a constant output over temperature. These attenuators can replace the Automatic Gain Control (AGC) components from the amplifier circuit resulting in reduced circuit size, reduced component count and ultimately reduced costs.

Introduction of High Power Attenuators
TFT announces the introduction of the HPA series of High Power Attenuators. These surface mount thin film attenuators are produced on Aluminum Nitride substrates providing excellent attenuation of transmitted signals for high power RF and microwave frequencies with optimal thermal dissipation. Balanced circuit design provides excellent frequency characteristics with tight tolerance behavior. Useful for evolving applications that require attenuation of transmitted signals verses just terminating them. This chip power attenuator provides matching to existing components in a system allowing for the filtering of harmonics while maintaining the cost performance of typical termination resistors. This chip power attenuator allows you to offer isolators with specific input impedances to closely match your customers circuitry.

TFT Receives Sony Green Partner Certification
Thin Film Technology has received Green Partner Certification from Sony Corp. The Sony Green Partner program helps to insure that all products supplied to Sony are produced using methods and materials that comply with the numerous environmental directives currently in place. Sony completed an on-site audit of the TFT facilities in June of 2011 and after review of all of the information gathered, Green Partner Certification was issued to TFT in August of 2011.

Thin Film Technology has presented two papers at the 2011 Mid Atlantic Microelectonics Conference (IMAPS) held in Atlantic City, NJ from June 23-24, 2011. Mr. Akhlaq Rahman, TFT R&D Engineer, presented two papers at this conference 1) Rated power and VSWR characteristics improvement by efficient thermal management and integrated matching network and 2) Rated power improvement of termination resistor by employing innovative and thermal management techniques. TFT attends IEEE Asia Microwave Conference
Thin Film Technology attended the 2010 IEEE Asia Pacific Microwave Conference (APMC 2010) which ran from 07-Dec-2010 to 10-Dec-2010 in Yokohama Japan. Thin Film Technology has signed on with AMT (Advanced Microelectronics Technology) in Japan to distribute our products to the Japanese market. AMT, which has locations in Nara City and Kawasaki City, Japan, is fully authorized to sell all of the Thin Film Technology products within Japan. Thin Film Technology attended the 2010 CARTS (Capacitor and Resistor Technology Symposium) held in New Orleans from March 15-17, 2010. As well as having a booth at the show, TFT also presented two papers. Mr. Mike Howieson, CTO, presented a paper titled "The Hidden Component to High Speed Filter Design: The Foot Print Influence". Mr. Akhlaq Rahman, EE, presented a paper titled "Optimizing Low Pass Filter Bandwidth for Generating Electrical Duobinary Signals for 40Gb/s Optical Duobinary Systems".
